What are the risks of installing an older computer game on a newer computer?

If not, what are the risks of installing older games (Set for Win 95+) on a newer PC, namely windows VISTA. I have several older games I wish to play on my laptop, though I fear that installing them may harm my computer. Do I need patches of some sort?

The games in name are:

Age of emperors 2: Age of Kings

Fallout: The Post Apocalyptic Role-playing Game

Twinsen's Odyssey

Diablo (1 and 2)

And Sim City (2000 and 3000)What are the risks of installing an older computer game on a newer computer?
The only risk is that the game won't work. What are the risks of installing an older computer game on a newer computer?
no risks as long as they install successfully (and u can deal with the laughable graphics)What are the risks of installing an older computer game on a newer computer?
There's no way of knowing whether your program will run on Vista or not without simply trying to install it. Chances are it will work, but Microsoft never published a broad compatibility list for Vista, which has left millions of users guessing whether their software would work or not.

When you first attempt to install an old app, Vista may pop up a warning that the program you're installing is not compatible with the OS. Try to install it anyway: More often than not, I've had zero problems with the software after it was installed, despite Microsoft's warning to the contrary.

That said, security software such as Anti-Virus, anti-spyware and Internet Protection software MUST be designed to run on Vista in order for it to work properly.
