I used to play a computer game called elite is there a modern version?

Now that i am old i remember years ago playing computer game called Elite and i was wondering what the nearest modern version is, doesn't need to be all bang up to date bells and whistles, anyways here's hoping someone can helpI used to play a computer game called elite is there a modern version?
