I mostly need suggestions on how to hide the wires, because I have tons of them..
And none of them can go. I have my TV, Computer and Game Station plugged up, with electric cords running in every direction, and the kitten will be able to roam in those areas, because they're quite wide. I have a bunch of them rubber-banded together tightly, but they'll still be able to chew on them if they try.How could I kitten proof my Computer/Game room?
During over 40 years of cat companions, I've had a few wire chewers and many who just didn't care. First, find out which kind you have. Some cats simply have no interest in chewing wires. Others are hard to stop.
If you have a wire chewer, the only sure way to protect your wires (other than to exclude the cat from the room) is to enclose them in something non-chewable. A popular option is to use drip irrigation pipe slit lengthwise. Ugly, but it works. Double-sided sticky tape (this is usually the kind with styrofoam in the middle) discourages most cats. Everything else I've heard about is even uglier.
Good luck if you have a wire chewer. It's a challenge. How could I kitten proof my Computer/Game room?
Most kittens may swat at a wire, but don't chew. But ah, what if they do? Then, that becomes a problem. You can coat wires with a substance known as Bitter Apple, sold at pet stores. But for thin wires, and portable electronics, not too convenient. For those, out of reach.
But for more stationary electronics, then there are protective wire guides that you can get. They are plastic spirals that you feed the wires through. They are known as cable management wraps, and I have provided a link to one example. Also called cable zippers. How could I kitten proof my Computer/Game room?
run the cords in a tube like the paper towel tubes or toilet paper tubes, throw a rug over them, block off the cords behind the tv or computer with styrofoam blocks from boxes I go to electronic stores and ask for boxes or styrofoam they will throw away...cut the styrofoam with a large bread knife...wedge it behind the tv or desk to block it off...there's cord protectors at office supply stores like office max, maybe home improvement stores like home depot or Lowe's...
