A few days ago I became nostalgic for an old computer game I used to play, so naturally I caved and bought it. I just tried to install in onto my new computer and nothing happened, no prompt or anything. It's a pc game from 2001 and the minimum configuration is windows 95, 98, 2000, ME and XP. I have a new Dell computer with Windows 7.. Could someone help walk me through the process on getting this game installed? Thanks! How do I install an older computer game on a new computer?
Most games require a set-up or installation file to install game on computer, look for that file in you computer. How do I install an older computer game on a new computer?
can't you see - you already answered the question.
that games support up to winxp - it can't recognize win7 file.
so if you still want to play better you format c Drive and do fresh installation for win xp. then setup the game.

go to My Computer and see if the CD is being read. Open it up manually.
Since its an old game, it most likely won't prompt you to install once you pop in the DVD. Anyways,
Start by putting in the DVD
Go to your start menu
Hit Computer
Under "Devices with Removable Storage" you should see a DVD/CD icon appear (accompanied by a letter such as E:)
Double Click it
You should get an option that says something along the lines of "Run .exe" or "Install"
If not then hit "Open File to view Folders"
and manually find and run the install.exe. :D
If none of that works, hit the start menu, in the Search bar (near the bottom) type in Run
Then type in "E:" into run.
